DataSurface abstracts the "how" from the "what". Your model defines the data flows (Producers -> Transformations -> Consumers), while DataPlatforms handle the physical execution.
Decoupled Architecture
DataPlatforms are plugins. You can add new platform capabilities (e.g., a new high-speed SQL engine or a vector database for AI) at any time without changing your business logic.
Flexible Consumer Assignment
Consumers (Workspaces) are assigned to DataPlatforms to execute their data requirements. This assignment is a configuration, not code.
- Migration is trivial: Switch a consumer from one platform to another by changing one line in the model. DataSurface handles the data movement and synchronization.
- Frictionless Cost Optimization (Multi-Homing): A consumer running on an expensive platform can also be assigned to a lower-cost option simultaneously. This allows them to benchmark performance and cost side-by-side. If the lower-cost option works, they can switch over completely by just editing a couple of lines in the model.
